I'm an Aussie former music journalist, now working in media Payroll and moonlighting as an author.
Fantasy and sci fi are hands down my favourite genres, both to read and write. I got the writing bug after reading the Discworld series as a kid, and Sir Terry remains my favourite author of all time. There's something about creating new worlds and magic systems that sparks my imagination - you can't beat that feeling of bringing stories to life. Right now, I'm currently published in a couple of indie anthologies and am looking to query my novella by the end of 2021.
When I'm not writing, I'm hanging out with my son and husband rewatching Star Trek or Star Wars (gotta introduce the kid to them after all), or the sport. You can also find me in the mosh pit or chilling with mates if I don't have my nose in a good book.
My writing
I'm published in two anthologies, very different from each other, but both were fun to work on and it was great to work with some awesome writers.
Christmas Australis is collection of mostly spec fic Christmas stories with a distinctively Aussie feel. It came out of a group of #6amAusWriters authors saying 'why don't we do a Christmas anthology?' and I had a blast doing it.
Discovery of Writers was quite a different project, featuring writers from around the globe, from Sweden to Australia to America. The theme was discovery (hence the name) and I poured my love of the ocean into the story for this one. Naturally it was a spec fic piece that even my dad (who doesn't read SFF) liked.
